How do I use the freeze-dried food
Feed Stella & Chewy’s freeze-dried raw Patties & Meal Mixers dry or rehydrated. Ensure pets drink enough water if fed dry, or rehydrate with cool/warm water or broth. Dry food can be left out for 12 hours, rehydrated for 2 hours before discarding.
Can I put rehydrated freeze-dried raw in the fridge
Yes, but for no longer than 2 days. Once rehydrated, we would not recommend leaving the food out for an hour or 2 before placing it in the refrigerator.
Can I warm up the food
Stella & Chewys products should never be warmed, cooked or heated in any way. To maintain the nutritional value, it is important to keep the food raw and in its natural state. Heating can eliminate many of the benefits before the food is served.
Do I need to change flavors
We suggest rotating proteins every 2-6 weeks for variety & to mimic ancestral diets. This can also help prevent protein-based allergies. Stella & Chewy’s has many single source & blended protein options. No problem sticking to one recipe long-term!
Why are my dogs stools hard and small
Raw-fed dogs have smaller, firmer, less frequent stools due to high food utilization. Our recipes include probiotics for gut health, plus fiber sources like pumpkin seed & raw bone for digestion. Add water to rehydrate food for hydration.
